MEET RENEE GRIFFITHS

My husband, Mark, and I have proudly called Canyon Lake home for nine years. This August we will celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Mark retired last year from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and we share our home with our dog.

My commitment is to the customers of Division 1 and to representing them with integrity, transparency, and respect for the dollars they work hard to earn.  The communities I hope to represent have different needs and perspectives, but we all share a common interest in clean, reliable water, healthy lakes, responsible spending, and accountable leadership.

A FINANCIAL PROFESSIONAL WHO RESPECTS EVERY CUSTOMER DOLLAR

As an experienced CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, I have spent my career helping people make informed financial decisions and consider both today's needs and long term consequences.   I understand the importance of budgeting, planning for the future, risk management, and risk mitigation. Those principles are important when making decisions that affect water supply, infrastructure, rates, and the future costs paid by customers.  Water rates are rising, and I will not pretend otherwise. That makes fiscal accountability more important than ever.  I will work to control costs, carefully examine spending, and help keep water rates as affordable as possible for customers.  Every major expenditure should be carefully considered, responsibly managed, and clearly justified.

HEALTHY LAKES REQUIRE PROACTIVE LEADERSHIP

I believe we need to be proactive whenever possible. Identifying and addressing problems early is better for our environment and can help prevent higher costs for customers later.  That means paying attention to warning signs, monitoring conditions, asking questions, and looking for potential problems before they become more serious.  Waiting until a problem is revealed or becomes severe can mean higher costs for everyone.

I enjoy digging into the details, researching issues, listening to customers and their ideas, consulting with those who have knowledge of the issues, and looking for practical solutions.  Our watersheds are connected, and the health of our lakes and waterways affects our communities and the people who enjoy them. I will bring a proactive, solution focused approach to improving and maintaining healthier lakes.

SERVANT LEADERSHIP

I am running for EVMWD Division 1 because I want to serve the people of Division 1.

To me, servant leadership means listening, doing the work, asking questions, researching the issues, and making decisions based on what is best for the customers.  My focus will be understanding the concerns of Division 1 customers, listening to their ideas, doing the research, and bringing their voices and priorities to the EVMWD Board.  At the same time, I recognize that Board decisions affect customers throughout the district, and I will take that responsibility seriously.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

After moving to Canyon Lake, I wanted to become involved in the community I call home.  I served on the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association Finance Committee and was later elected to the CLPOA Board of Directors, where I served as Treasurer and then President from 2021 through 2023.  I currently serve on the Canyon Lake Senior Center Committee as Treasurer.  Those experiences reinforced something I strongly believe:

Leadership is not about titles or power. It is about responsibility, preparation, collaboration, and serving the people who placed their trust in you.

MY COMMITMENT

I am running because I want to serve the customers of Division 1.  My focus will be on listening, asking questions, doing the research, and representing their interests with integrity and respect.

Clean Water. Healthy Lakes. Fiscal Accountability. Transparency.
